Friday, April 22nd, 2011: Baseball can be a contact sport at times. It can exact a harsh toll on a player's body. In a recent game against Hanover College Hooks, Blackbirds reliever Alonso Hernández was injured throwing a pitch and is expected to miss 7 months with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow. The team did not announce any roster moves today related to this injury. The Buffalo College skipper told BNN that personnel decisions would be announced as early as tomorrow.
For the year Hernández has collected no saves in 10 relief appearances. He has also notched 10 strikeouts and 8 walks in 10 innings while registering a 5.40 ERA and a 0-1 won-lost record.
