| Breaking News |  | Johnson Wins ACL Player of the Week Honors Monday, April 25th, 2011: It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the American College League, but last week Dylan Johnson of the Dallas College Wings reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week. Johnson rocked opposing pitching for a .581 average (18-31), 4 home runs and 9 RBIs to come away with the award.
Presently Johnson is batting .414 with 5 home runs and 13 RBIs. He has played in 22 games and scored 15 times. |  | NCBA's Top Player Named Monday, April 25th, 2011: So far in his young career, Jorge Salazar has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the National College Baseball Association in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts.
The 20-year-old Buffalo College Blackbirds left fielder hit at a torrid .567 clip as he collected 17 hits in 30 at-bats, 2 home runs, 10 RBIs and 9 runs scored.
So far this season Salazar is batting .345 with 4 home runs. |  | 2-Game Suspensions for Young-Garza Fight Sunday, April 24th, 2011: Yesterday at Field of the Silverbacks Edward Young and Tony Garza got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Lexington College Silverbacks and Carson City College Silver Strikers. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified both ballclubs that Young and Garza would be given 2-game suspensions for fighting.
On the year Young has hit .352 with 1 home run, 14 RBIs and scored 16 runs.
So far this season, in 8 relief appearances Garza has compiled an ERA of 3.18.
