Monday, April 25th, 2011: His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Matt Strickland was rewarded with the US Single A League Player of the Week honors.
The scrappy Atlantic City Shooters right fielder hit .500 while collecting 12 hits in 24 at-bats, 5 home runs and 11 RBIs.
On the year Strickland is hitting .370 with 30 hits, 9 home runs, 26 RBIs, .474 OBP and has scored 20 runs. |
 | Jordan Shuts out Nihilists
Sunday, April 24th, 2011: Mount Vernon's Ben Jordan breezed through the Nihilists lineup today, collecting a 4-hit shutout and a 1-0 victory along the way. Jordan fanned 2 as well.
"I didn't really feel like I had my game today," Jordan confessed, "but some days are like that -- you just gotta go with what you have."

 | Ruckus Reaps 5-Game Suspensions
Sunday, April 24th, 2011: It was quite a row yesterday at Phantoms Ballpark. The Phantoms Joe Unknown and the Voyagers Gustavo Fernández backed up their angry words with a few shoves and a few swings. Then both dugouts raced onto the field and got involved in the fracas. When it was over, only Unknown and Fernández were ejected.
As expected they were informed by the league office that they would each have to serve 5-game suspensions for their inappropriate actions.
To date this season, Fernández has a record of 2 wins and no losses and a 4.82 ERA. He has appeared in 5 games and struck out 18 in 28 innings. |
