Monday, April 25th, 2011: Alexis Gagnier is respected by most San Jose Mission fans for his no-frills style of play. The 24-year-old third baseman went about his business with vigor last week to grab the US Double A League Player of the Week honors.
He compiled a .500 average (13-26) with 5 home runs, 14 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
This season Gagnier is swinging the bat at a .441 pace. He has hit 7 home runs and scored 25 times, while driving in 31. His on-base percentage is .518 and he has played in 22 games. |

Thursday, April 21st, 2011: The La Palma BobCats struggled at the plate today against Pioneers hurler José Rivera, who shackled them on 3 hits while hurling a complete game 3-0 shutout.
"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said the BobCats skipper in his postgame comments.
"Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."
Rivera finished the game with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk in an excellent mound performance.
"He pitched real well," his manager said. "José made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."

 | Bad Boy Brawlers Suspended 9 Games
Tuesday, April 19th, 2011: Vern McAlister of the Cape Cod Watchmen and Louis Allen of the Hood River Rivercats will be on the sidelines for a few days. They have been suspended 9 games apiece by the league office for causing the bench-emptying free-for-all at the recent Watchmen-Rivercats game at Tampa Grounds.
Neither player had any comment about the suspensions. Both clubs told BNN McAlister and Allen will begin serving them soon.
So far on the season McAlister is hitting .323 with 5 home runs, 10 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has 20 hits and played in 18 games.
For the season Allen is 0-and-0 with no saves and a 4.70 ERA. He has given up 8 hits in 7.2 innings with 6 strikeouts. |
